This iron object is the key to Edgar Allan Poe’s trunk, and was reportedly found on his body after he died. The key and the trunk are both on exhibit at the Poe Museum in Richmond, Virginia. A NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner was used to create the 3D model of the key, which was scanned on site at the Poe Museum. Further details about the key and the trunk can be found here: https://www.poemuseum.org/collection-details.php?id=11. Courtesy of the Poe Museum. Used in an 8th Grade English lesson, read more about this here https://vcuarchaeology3d.wordpress.com/2016/09/28/unlocking-education-using-the-3d-poe-key-scan-to-teach-8th-graders/
