This limestone protome, made in the end of the 17th Century, would have been found on the side of a building. In architecture, a protome is a type of object that decorates a building. The adornment usually takes the form of the head and upper torso of either a human or an animal. Sculpted by a Pisan master, though the exact identity is unknown.
