Although this funeral cinerary urn is of the Hellenistic period, one may notice the strong Etruscan influence. Indeed, the Etruscans established as a custom to represent a lying person on funerary monuments such as tombs or cinerary urns. This custom was then taken over by the Romans for centuries to come.
