This head is a Roman-period copy of the Harmodius, belonging to the famous bronze group depicting the Tyrannicides- Aristogeiton and Harmodius, the murderers of Hipparchus, son of the Athenian tyrant Peisistratus- made by Kritios and Nesiotes in 477-476 BC. The work interprets the schemes of the severe style more freely than the original and uses a drill for the hair, suggesting a date in the 2nd century AD.
