In ancient Greece, the symposium was a part of a banquet that took place after the meal, when drinking for pleasure was accompanied by music, dancing, recitals, or conversation. This is what can be observed in this relief – following Hellenistic funerary art custom, the gravestone represents a part of the life of the deceased, probably the man laying down.
