A small sample of a granitic rock called Granophyre, from the Ercall quarry, Shropshire. This specimen has been cut to produce microscope thin sections. Granophyre is a subvolcanic rock that contains quartz and alkali feldspar in characteristic angular intergrowths such as those in the accompanying image. The texture is called granophyric. Imaged using a canon 5DS R and Stackshot 3x with turntable to provide 70 images which were then processed using agisoft photoscan at high levels. ___________ This object is scanned by Fossils in Shropshire
