Highly cultured and versatile, Lord Kinnaird was an influential agricultural reformer and promoter of railway development in central Scotland and a pioneering amateur photographer. His seat at Rossie Priory was filled with antiquities retrieved during his important archaeological excavations near Rome. Kinnaird family patronage of Brodie, one of the most prolific British portrait sculptors of the mid-nineteenth century, probably began with this bust, executed in the year of his election as a Royal Scottish Academician.   This object is part of "Scan The World".
