This funerary stone shows a lictor, a person who provided aid to the Roman magistrates. He is holding fasces (a bound bundle of wooden rods, sometimes resembling an axe) and a swagger stick (a crop), both of these objects representing power.  It comes from the Verona area and 1st century AD.
