Athens/Piraeus (Greece), acquired in 1884Marble, 410 - 400 BC Seated on an elegantly curved chair (klismos), a woman is depicted as she spins her wool. In her right hand she holds the spindle, whereas the distaff in her left was only painted. Next to her chair is the basket with wool.
