With the heavily drilled locks of hair, messy facial hair and gaunt expression this unidentified portrait of a man could either represent a philosopher (note the band around his head) or a gaul/barbarian. The collector, Stefano Bardini, was a famous art dealer who gathered objects and fragments from various ruined churches and villas from across Italy.  Provenance unknown
