This fragment comes from the short side of a sarcophagus from the second half of the 2nd century AD. This piece depicts the dextrarum iuncto - the joining of the right hands between husband and wife, a symbol of the nuptial tie- depicts a funerary farewell scene. The woman dries her tears with her cloak, while the man sadly says goodbye to her for the last time.
