Fragment of sarcophagus bowl, 3rd century, Italy, Marble. Musée dArt et d'Histoire (Musée du Cinquantenaire, Brussels, Belgium). Made with CapturingReaIity. Bust of the deceased turned to the left, his left armi resting on the armrest of his seat. Behind the bust, a drapery (parapetasma). Judging by the position of the arms, he had to hold in his hands the rotulus (roll of papyrus) unrolled, usual on these effigies of scholars.
