In providing a set of human characters, the theatre was a major influence upon artists. Comedy in particular supplied a range of types, such as the brainless young man with money and pointless good looks, the runaway slave, the messenger, the pimp, the nurse and so on. Here, a terracotta with exaggerated features represents a typical grotesque with distorted face and body on spindly legs.   This object is part of "Scan The World".
