Culture: Egyptian Material: Limestone Diam: H 15 x W 13 Accession No: MG 007 Current Location: The Hunt Museum, Limerick. Carved from a single block this monkey Sits on a rectangular plinth, with knees drawn up. The upper arms reach out horizontally and the elbows rest on the knees. The forearms reach up and the fingers are wrapped around an elongated snout. The mouth is incised horizontally and the eyes are almond shape with rounded eyeballs. The air is long, falling vertically to the nape of the neck with a straight centre parting. The body and limbs are slender and long. A tail wraps around one thigh and curves under the hip. More.
