Eve is an early piece of work by sculptor Aimé-Jules Dalou (Paris, 1838-1902), notably known for his public monuments. He took heavy influence from Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (11 May 1827 – 12 October 1875) mentioned here, "Eve is represented as a graceful adolescent, kneeling in a pose similar to 'Pecheur a la coquille' (also by Jules Dalou, also uploaded to Scan The World from The Petit Palais). The snake crawling up the side of ther leg justifies the biblical title, signifying the charming of the girl.   This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory, through which we are creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from across the globe for the public to access for free. Scan the World is an open source, community effort, if you have interesting items around you and would like to contribute, email [email protected] to find out how you can help.
