This high-relief holds the coat of arms of The Pesaro Family, a highly influential patrician Venetian family who grew in prominance from the second half of the 17th Century. The family produced Giovanni Pesaro, the 103rd Doge of Venice, who commissioned the Renaissance master Titian to produce the Pesaro Madonna in 1518 for the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in Venice. Giovanni and the Pesaro crest is depicted in the masterpiece, blessed by The Virgin and child.
