The abacus above the capital (ME 129) depicts a frieze with palmettes. After the Last Supper, Jesus withdraws to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray with his disciples. Faced with fear of the physical suffering and death that he knows await him shortly, Jesus beseeches God to spare him this ordeal. Then he regains control of himself and accepts his fate. Judas, who has betrayed him, arrives in the garden. But Jesus gives himself up to the soldiers armed with spears who have come to arrest him. When he reveals his identity, the soldiers fall back, aghast. On the left reverse section, the disciples flee in panic.
