This bronze hatchet originates from the Late Bronze Age wetland settlement 'Wasserburg Buchau am Federsee' (Biberach district, Baden-Württemberg) and is attributable to the urnfield culture (1100-800 BC). It belongs to the so-called Lappenbeilen and shows a significant casting line on one side. The neck of the hatchet is broken and the dark patina of the object is from its years of burial in moist soil. The hatchet is now in the collection of the Department of Younger Prehistory and Early History of the University of Tübingen.
