Culture: Bronze Age. Material: Bronze. L 11.6cm. Accession No: HCA 307. Current Location: The Hunt Museum, Limerick. A cast socketed, faceted and looped axehead. Sub-rectangular cross section and the mouth slightly irregular and flared open. A flared convex cutting edge is bevelled and polished. Three parallel longitudinal ribs run from the edge of the mouth to just over half way towards the blade edge. These are even and on both faces. A thick loop sits on one side just above the socket mouth. The patina is mottled brown. More.
