This bag-shaped, looped socketed axe weighing 293.4g, has a slightly uneven, rounded mouth, slight bevel on the rim and short collar. A thick loop is set at its base. The cutting edge is well expanded with very little wear. The blade surface is smoothened, the rest pitted and rough. The patina is mottled brown and dull. A half-rib extends half way to the rim. The findspot is Limerick. These axes are predominant in Late Bronze Age Ireland with 1,300+ examples. More.
