Astrid Sofia Lovisa Thyra (Stockholm, 17 November 1905 - Küssnacht am Rigi, 29 August 1935), Princess of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant, Princess of Sweden, was the daughter of Prince Charles of Sweden and Princess Ingeborg of Denmark. Her sister Martha of Sweden, was crown princess of Norway; Queen Astrid was therefore an aunt of the present King Harald V of Norway. Her uncle was Christiaan X of Denmark, and her grandfather, King Oscar II of Sweden. Through her mother stamde them from the King William I. In her arrival in Antwerp, forgot the Princess all ceremonial and flew her fiance to the neck; this spontaneous gesture was the beginning of the huge sympathy the princess acquired in the population. By her marriage in 1926 to the then Belgian Crown Prince Leopold was it after the death of King Albert I in 1934. Queen of the Belgians.
