This altar features a portrayal of Silvanus, the god of the woods, with fruits, pine cones and a sickle. At his feet is a dog, and beside him a Scots pine, a tree sacred to the god. The altar was offered by a group of veterans from the emperor's horse guard -equites singulares Augusti- on the occasion of their discharge -missi honesta missione. From Rome, Via Tasso, Castra Priora of the equites singulares Augusti. Dated 4th January 145 AD.
