The body of this sculpture is the only surviving part of the original sculpture. Known by others of the same type commissioned by Emperor Augustus for his wife, the shape of this sculpture's body tells us that it would have been used for worship. The addition of the modern head and two flutes towards the end of the eighteenth century transformed the statue into the muse Euterpe.    This object is part of "Scan The World".
