155 North Wacker is a 48 story skyscraper located in Chicago, Illinois designed by Goettsch Partners and was developed by the John Buck Company. It stands 638 feet (195 m). It has received LEED silver pre-certification. The building is located in the Chicago West Loop at the intersection of Wacker Drive and Randolph Street. Jim Goettsch and Steve Nilles, of Goettsch Partners, designed the building, bringing together the same award-winning design expertise previously demonstrated in the recently completed 111 South Wacker Drive and the UBS Tower at One North Wacker Drive. 155 North Wacker Drive offers tenants ideal proximity to public transportation hubs, expressways, financial exchanges, major banks, courthouses and many major corporations. This 1.3 million square foot, 46-story structure provides the latest advances in business technologies. Leading edge technology combined with column free 45 foot lease spans and full height energy efficient glass makes this LEED Gold building a productive and efficient environment for business operations. The ground floor plaza consists of a four story covered exterior arcade which passes through a structural glass cable wall façade into the 45 foot tall lobby consisting of Calcatta Sponda, Alpenina, and Rosso Asiago Stone floors and walls. The sloped diamond shaped ceiling with recessed light coves makes a dramatic statement both day and night. The glass cable wall design reflects a third generation design evolved to utilize glass lites 8’-6” tall by 10’-0” wide supported only by vertical cables for the ultimate in creating a joint free transparent wall. The exterior glass curtain wall system consists of a factory glazed, unitized, aluminum and glass wall, with exterior stainless steel fins. The building rises out of the ground supported by triangular shaped linen finish stainless steel columns. The design emphasizes the verticality of the 640 foot tall structure. The arcade addresses the strong transportation oriented pedestrian circulation path which flows East/West along Randolph Street and will be enhanced by the adjacent Randolph Park currently under construction and targeted for completion in mid-year 2010. The park provides a convenient exterior space amenity for building occupants. (Credit; Wikipedia, 155 North Waker)   This object is part of "Scan The World".
