Cleopatra's needle is the popular name for each of the three Ancient Egyptian obelists found in London, Paris and New York City, erected in the nineteenth Cenutry. They do not have any connection with the famous Queen Cleopatra VII or Egypt but made during the reign of the 18th Dynasty Pharaoh Thutmose III, around 1450BC. They are cut in granite, stand about 21 metres high and weight 224 tons each. This obelisk can be found at the Victoria Embankment near Embankment station in London, guarded with two identical sphinxes, also uploaded on Scan The World This object is part of "Scan The World".
