Visit www.BolivAIR.com for more information! Summary These respirator masks are not approved by the FDA. You should always use an approved respirator (which this is not). I do not particularly care to prescribe a solution for you. We’d all rather use proper medical supplies from reputable companies, but that option is disappearing. This is only a Plan B. This is a mask that was created in collaboration with our local hospital to provide a filtered respiration solution in case of an emergency. This design came from this Thingiverse model here:https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4225667. The implementation of the face seal came from Lowell Makes. Go there for details about that.https://lowellmakes.com/3d-printed-masks/ For more information visit: www.BolivAIR.com  For a detailed overview and assembly guide visit: https:kturl.com/bolivair Requirements were:• Reliable seal around the face, even when moving around• Uses HEPA filters• Allows physicians to breathe easily• Allows communication without being overly muffled• Easy to print• Reasonably comfortable for long periods of time• Incorporates large straps for security and comfort• Feasible to deploy from the community to the hospital in large numbers• Passes Qualitative Fit Testing. (https://www.grainger.com/content/qt-qualitative-fit-testing-324) Here are the "other" supplies needed to complete the full design (I am not claiming these are the best options, they are just what we had access to and what met our requirements): We were able to achieve a good seal with some larger closed cell Rubber weatherstripping (Must be Glued on as adhesive backing is bad, Hot Glue works well). UPC: 77578012247https://www.frostking.com/products/weatherstripping/rubber-foam-weatherseal-5-year-guarantee The filter continues to be the Filtrete HEPA filters (Many sizes, but must be the "True HEPA" style. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Filtrete-Advanced-Allergen-Bacteria-Virus-True-HEPA-Room-Air-Purifier-Filter-F1/871504698 The straps we are redesigning around the 3/4" elastic bands. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dritz-3-4-x3-Yd-Braided-Elastic/19757877 OR https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dritz-3-4-Knit-Non-Roll-Elastic-25-Yd/178590366 >This model has not been approved by any regulatory agency. Use it at your own risk, and only as a last resort, if you do not have any other homologated protection. The recommended measures to protect yourself from infection with the coronavirus COVID-19 are the following: • Stay home and avoid contact with other people• Avoid touching your face with your hands• Wash your hands very often Note: This model only includes the mask structure (2 pieces) but does not include the required filter to effectively block the spread of the virus. Also, additional isolation measures could be required to properly fit the face without air gaps. Please check the comments for more information shared by other users about the types of filters that could apply to a mask with these characteristics. The effectiveness of P3 particle filters has been mentioned, and probably also HEPA 12/13, but unfortunately we do not have the means of analysis necessary to confirm this with guarantees. Again we remind you to use this model at your own risk. Post-PrintingAssembly (more details to come)- Cut HEPA filter to shape - Place HEPA filter cutout onto bottom of mask and place the filter plate on top - Press filter plate into recess (should snap) - Cut 13" of Foam - Super glue Foam around outside edge of mask - Run Elastic through holes and through Elastic Adjusters Cleaning and prolonged use:One of the physicians we’ve been working with sent me what you see below. I do not have the qualifications officially recommend this as ‘the’ method. Note that no long-term testing, lab testing, or side effect testing has been done to my knowledge, but I found this to be helpful: “FDA approved N95s and other respirators are always the best option but during this pandemic these have become scarce resources. Also, ideally the respirator would be sterilized between every patient and filters changed or mask thrown away. Unfortunately, that is not a realistic option in the outbreak we face. We strongly encourage at least daily cleaning or when directly contaminated. We tested this design in PLA and used purple top wipes with no degradation of materials. If unavailable, Virex spray is another option but it has to be used with caution. The spray will degrade the foam gasket with direct contact. Use of the Virex is only recommended for the outside of the mask. The inside can be cleaned with alcohol pads since this should not be directly contaminated with it always being in contact with only the user’s face. To help stretch out use of the filter material, use of a face mask or other, direct covering over the filter, is recommended. If the filter material becomes directly contaminated, cleanse the mask and replace the filter with a new sheet of filtration material.”
